National Heritage Week Awards 2025

Ballyvolane House has been named the winner of the Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh / Intangible Cultural Heritage Award at the National Heritage Week Awards 2025, held at the Museum of Modern Art, Kilmainham, Dublin on 17th October.

The award celebrates outstanding projects that promote and preserve Ireland’s living traditions and cultural heritage. Ballyvolane House was honoured for its event “Celebrating Irish Road Bowling at Ballyvolane House”, held during National Heritage Week 2025.

This year’s theme, “Exploring Our Foundations,” encouraged communities to reflect on Ireland’s deep cultural roots. Ballyvolane House’s event featured Dr. Séamus Ó Tuama of the Irish Road Bowling Association, who gave an insightful talk on the history and significance of the sport. Guests also enjoyed a guided house tour by owner Justin Green and a live road bowling demonstration on the estate grounds.

Justin’s father Jeremy and daughter Fleur travelled to Dublin to accept the award on behalf of the family, marking a proud moment across three generations at Ballyvolane House.

Ballyvolane House is a member of the Historic Houses of Ireland (HHI), whose members hosted many inspiring events nationwide during Heritage Week 2025.
