Hole-in-One Challenge
Fermoy Golf Club in Co Cork has achieved a very rare, if not unique event in recent weeks. The three 2019 officers, Aileen Ryan Lady Captain, Denis Crowley Men’s Captain and President Paudie Scanlon each scored a hole in one within a ten day window of each other. “There has been great excitement in Fermoy Golf Club over the past number of weeks. I had a hole in one on the 2nd hole in the Men’s Captain’s Prize Day, Paudie Scanlon had a hole in one on the 11th hole and not to be left out, Denis Crowley followed with a hole in one on the 8th green!” explained Aileen Ryan, Lady Captain of Fermoy Golf Club. “We felt as a club, that we needed to celebrate this achievement in some way and so The All Ireland Hole in One Challenge was born!”
To mark this event, Fermoy Golf Club is setting up a challenge for all ILGU and GUI affiliated golf clubs on the island of Ireland called The All Ireland Hole in One Challenge. Any Lady Captain, Men’s Captain or President in office for the full 2019 year in an ILGU or GUI affiliated golf club is eligible to partake in this challenge.
The first Lady Captain, Men’s captain or President to get a hole in one before October 31, 2019 in an ILGU or GUI recognised competition on a golf course affiliated to the ILGU and GUI will win:
- A round of golf for the winner and 2 guests of their choice.
- A midweek overnight stay for the winner and 2 guests of their choice in the award winning Ballyvolane Country House, Castlelyons, Co. Cork to include breakfast and dinner.
We are delighted to be sponsoring a prize for the winner. For more information, please contact Fermoy Golf Club.
