Ballyvolane House is the ideal place to make merry and feast this coming December - our chef, Tina, has concocted a series of mouth-watering menus so that you can enjoy long lazy lunches and feisty festive dinners in the run up to Christmas with friends, family and work colleagues.

Only 30 minutes by car from Cork city, Ballyvolane is nestled deep in the beautiful north Cork countryside. Originally built in 1728, the Georgian exterior of the house was remodelled in early Victorian times in the Italianate style. More recently the interior has been faithfully restored and modernised, yet it maintains many original family heirlooms, portraits and antiques. Ballyvolane can accommodate gatherings of all sizes. Don’t worry about driving home and stay the night. Special discounted room rates available.

December Lunches

THREE COURSES @ €38.50 PER PERSON

Glass of mulled wine or hot-spiced apple on arrival.

Starter

Choose 3 starters to share. These will be served in large plates and placed in the centre of the table for everyone to share. Suggest you choose 1 soup, 1 hot starter and 1 cold starter.

Homemade leek and potato soup (v)
Pea and coriander soup (v)
Union Hall seafood chowder
Selection of antipasti – Gubbeen cured meats, olives, artichoke hearts, pickles (cold)
House-cured gravlax, dill-mustard sauce, cucumber pickle (cold)
Homemade duck liver parfait, red onion marmalade, Melba toast (cold)
Warm potato salad with Gubbeen chorizo (hot)
Grilled flat mushroom salad, pancetta, rocket, Desmond cheese (hot)

Main course

Choose 1 main course which will be served in large plates for the entire table to share. There is also a vegetarian option available for the non-meat lovers.

Sing along around the piano

After the meal, gather around the piano in the hall and sing Christmas songs. Our pianist has been practicing and we have song sheets printed up so no excuses about not knowing the words! The pianist fee is €200.

With game now in season, December is the month to indulge in a delicious five course game feast with family, friends and colleagues.

Homemade walled-garden Jerusalem artichoke soup, truffle oil

Dark chocolate tart, pistachio nut ice cream, poached winter fruit

Selection of artisan cheeses and a glass of port

Christmas House Parties

house partyBallyvolane has become synonymous with house parties in recent years. Entertain friends, family or business colleagues this winter in grand style and host your own private house party. Celebrate a special occasion, birthday or event by taking over the entire house and grounds for a couple of nights of fun, fine food and delicious drink. Barefoot or ball gowns, make the party as relaxed or as formal as you like. We can plan all sorts of activities during the day.

With only 6 bedrooms, the house sleeps 12 and we have some extra beds and cots if needed. There is also a self-catering cottage, which sleeps up to 6 people.

NEW YEAR EXCLUSIVE HOUSE LET

The house is available for up to a week during New Year on a self-catering basis. Arrival and departure dates are flexible. Additional staff and a chef can be provided if required.
